Background: Dr. David O’Connor is an accomplished vascular and endovascular surgeon, double board-certified and practicing full-time since 2012. Raised in South Florida, he completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University as a George and Harriet Cornell Scholar, earning a bachelor of arts degree in economics with honors. He pursued his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he was awarded the University of Miami Board of Trustees Scholarship.

Professional Roles: Currently, Dr. O’Connor holds the position of Director of Vascular Research and serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. His residency training in general surgery was completed at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Montefiore Medical Center, followed by specialized training in vascular and endovascular surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Contributions and Achievements: Dr. O’Connor is renowned for his personalized approach to treating complex vascular conditions and has introduced numerous innovative techniques to Northern New Jersey. His notable firsts include percutaneous endovascular repairs for abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms and pioneering uses of carbon dioxide angiography, along with pedal and radial artery access for peripheral angiograms. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of vascular conditions, from aortic aneurysms and carotid artery disease to rare vascular disorders.

Research and Education: An active participant in clinical research, Dr. O’Connor has authored over two dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous book chapters. He is a frequent speaker at regional, national, and international vascular scientific conferences. His research interests include new devices for minimally invasive aortic aneurysm repair, advanced 3D imaging techniques for complex endovascular procedures, and novel applications in stem cell therapy for vascular health.

Community Involvement and Personal Life: Dr. O’Connor is a member of several prestigious surgical societies and holds leadership roles within the Society for Vascular Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and dedicates time to teaching medical students, surgical residents, and vascular fellows. Outside of his professional life, Dr. O’Connor is passionate about architecture, enjoys visiting museums, and travels extensively with his fiancée, Suzanne. His favorite activities include biking, golf, and skiing.
